Twitter – Best Practices

As one of the most popular micro blogs, twitter has become a victim of its own success. In an effort to attract more followers, we have seen a number of  businesses tweeting about a range of topics, most of which have nothing to do with their business. It is important to keep your twitter accounts on target. When tweeting there are a few basic rules that you should follow.

Announcements: Twitter is ideal for B to C business.  Use twitter to instantly alert your followers of a special deal or upcoming event.  This method of communication is cheaper than email and more instantaneous and won’t get stuck in any spam filters.

Content notifications: Content is king in the online world and there is no better way to increase the visits to your blog or white paper or industry new than to post the availability of that publication on twitter.

Keep Main content on your site: Links from Twitter to content should ideally be hosted on your site.  You want followers to visit your site.  The more visitors that come to your site, the better your organic SEO will become.

Adding Links: Every tweet has the potential to add more links to your website.  Although many of these links may be temporary, they can have a big impact on organic SEO.  The more followers that retweet your content them more potential links to your site.

By keeping your content focused and meaningful you can easily increase followers, links and ultimately your organic SEO
