WordPress website design & development companies get soaked by malware.

SoakSoak is a Russian virus that loads attack code into WordPress webpages. To date, more than 100,000 WordPress websites have been infected. Google has flagged more than 10,000 malicious domains.

As a website design & development company, we initially showed some interest in WordPress. But, that interest waned when a multitude of viruses began hacking these template sites. And therein lies the problem. Templates make it possible for viruses to be very effective. When you find a weakness in the plug-in of one template you’ve found a weakness that is in every site using that plug-in.

For example, SoakSoak can be found in the slideshow plug-in called Slider Revolution. The plug-in was fixed earlier this fall. However, many website & development firms don’t always update plug-ins. And because this plug-in is packaged with others, they may not even be aware that it is on your particular site.

Website design & development experts used to recommend only using WordPress Premium Theme templates because they were less likely to be hacked. That’s changed now. The Slider Revolution plug-in is bundled in with Premium Themes from WordPress.

Kirk will continue to build websites the safest way…template free. It’s the best way to avoid viruses and hacks.
